Snow-capped Mauna Kea Volcano from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory on February 23, 1999. In Hawaiian, Mauna Kea means "white mountain". Mauna Kea is seen with the gentle sloping, northeast rift zone of Mauna Loa in the foreground. The elevation of Mauna Kea is 13,796 feet.
