Anatahan Volcano Update for August 2
Submitted Sunday, August 3, 10:00 a.m. local Anatahan time
For the past 24 hours Anatahan volcanic seismicity has been low, at
a evel similar to that of the past couple of weeks. There were no apparent
eruption signals or potential precursory events. Tremor is low.
The Anatahan seismic station registered a small swarm of a dozen or
so long-period (LP) events of approximate magnitude 1. They were not
registered by either the Sarigan or Saipan seismic stations. The events
mostly occurred between 2100 and 2300 August 1, local Anatahan time.
We consider this small swarm to likely be part of normal background
activity, not necessarily precursory to any imminent eruption. We will
continue to keep an eye on the seismicity.
Anatahan Volcano Update for August 3

For the past 24 hours Anatahan volcanic seismicity has been low, at

The brief swarm of small LP events registered yesterday on the Anatahan
seismic station has ended. Background tremor is up slightly today, but
seismic energy release is still within a level we have seen for the
past couple of weeks.
