Anatahan Volcano Update

Anatahan Volcano Update for April 6, 2004

The seismic swarm that began beneath Anatahan Island on March 31 has continued to intensify over the past day or so. From the nature of the seismic signals, we believe that small steam and (or) ash emissions are occasionally taking place to altitudes well below 3,000 ft (1,000 m).
