Anatahan Volcano Update for April 9, 2004
Submitted Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 1000 local Anatahan time

For the past day Anatahan volcanic seismicity has been fairly high but has continued to decrease slowly from its peak on April 6-7, which was the highest level since the eruption of May-June 2003. We believe the nature of the seismicity indicates that steam and (or) ash emissions may be occurring to very low altitudes of less than 3,000 ft (1,000 m).
