Photograph by Andy Badig, Ka`u News

The tsunami spread east and southwest from its source near Halape at about 300 km per hour. At Honu`apo and Whittington County Park, southwest of the earthquake epicenter, the tsunami demolished a warehouse, leaving behind only the foundation (above), and destroyed nearby park facilities.
