Kapoho map on Jan. 23

Map showing extent of coverage by lava flows at 2000 January 23. Lava has moved into the village of Koa`e today and destroyed at least three buildings. Flows have totally filled Higashi Pond and breached the east end of the first Kuki`i-Kapoho barrier. A second barrier has been constructed today along the road to Kapoho, and the long barrier between Pu`u Kukae and the coastline is mostly done.
