Scientists and students from all over the world come to HVO to collaborate in observing and studying volcanic processes in Hawai`i, to learn about volcano-monitoring methods, and to help improve monitoring instruments and data-analysis techniques. HVO scientists travel to other volcanic regions in the world to aid in volcanic emergencies through the USGS Volcano Disaster Assistance Program. Such experience and collaborative interactions have helped to diminish loss of life and property from volcanic activity in Hawai`i and elsewhere in the world. |
